10/08/06 - Believe it or not, I finally met Tracey Ullman face to face last Saturday at Indigo Books here in Toronto and it was an awesome experience. I've written up a moment by moment account of the day the earth stood still here: Meeting Tracey Ullman.
12/17/05 - Once Upon A Mattress 05/11/05 - The new HBO special "Tracey Ullman "Live and Exposed"" airs this Friday, May 14th. You can get more information here. This site includes clips, images and a press release for the show. To the left you can see a billboard I happened to fall upon while driving up Santa Monica Blvd in L.A. a few weeks ago. Quite a treat to turn around the corner and see Tracey unexpectedly hovering 100 feet above the hood of my car. 09/01/04 - Is Tracey going back to Broadway? It appears that Tracey is filming an HBO special this February live in L.A. called "Tracey's Best Bits". She will then take the show to Broadway later that year.
For the third time in 20 years, Tracey is visiting my hometown.
Her first visit was in 1985 to support "Plenty" and subsequently in 1998
to promote the Canadian premiere of Tracey Takes On.
"A Dirty Shame"
will be premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival September
12th and Tracey is rumoured to be making an appearance with John Waters
at the festival screening. Tickets go on sale next Wednesday.
Will this finally be my chance to meet the great one?.stay tuned.
08/16/04 -
2004 is shaping up to be a banner Tracey year!
"A Dirty Shame" opens next month and jaws are dropping for Tracey's scene with the water bottle.
Tracey will also star as Princess Winnifred in the ABC TV remake of "Once Upon A Mattress". Tracey was suggested by Carol Burnett who will play the conniving Queen Aggravain. I'm guessin' that this will be the showcase for Tracey's triple threat talents.
Filming starts this fall. Anyhoo...
05/14/04 -
Reuters says, "Tracey Ullman too "Dirty" for Hollywood!"
09/27/03 -
Tracey has been cast as the lead in John Waters' upcoming film "A Dirty Shame" . Tracey plays a convenience store owner, who after experiencing a concussion becomes hooked on sex. It's billed as a "cunnilingus comedy for the whole family". Chris Isaak
has been cast as her husband and others in the cast include Johnny Knoxville, Selma Blair and perennial Waters' favorite Mary Vivian Pearce. This sounds like
quite a departure for Tracey, possibly the chance for her to do something even more outrageous than we've seen on HBO. Isn't it interesting how the leading auteur filmmakers seek
Tracey out for roles? She's really worked with the best. Filming starts October 10th with a release date set for sometime next year. Anyhooo..
07/17/03 -
New HBO special
Trailer Tales
airs August 9, 8 PM ET/PT only in America unfortunately...
09/27/02 -
It is my intention to give this site an overhaul..it will not disappear! I'm just too busy at the moment teaching,
taking courses and working astronomically long hours..not to mention dealing with 3 extremely demanding children..how
am I supposed to drive Raheem to gymnastics and Myfanwy to swimming simultaneously?! For up to date information on Tracey,
visit Roger's site: Totally Tracey Online...It's so much more current!
He has some great updates on Visible Panty Lines and Tracey's appearance at the Kirsty MacColl tribute...For now though..GO HOME! Anyhooo..
09/19/01 -
Tracey's new talk show on fashion "
Visible Panty Lines", preempted by the World Trade Center tragedy, premiered last Sunday night the 16th.
If you live on the East Coast, you might have been lucky enough to catch Tracey on the Today show twenty minutes
before the North Tower of the World Trade Center was hit last Tuesday the 11th. I can't get Oxygen from Canada so I haven't got the foggiest idea what Tracey and Cindy Crawford gabbed on about. I've heard the
theme song and it's that cool Elvis Costello song "Girls Talk". You can watch the
show in the US every Sunday night at 10. My prayers and heartfelt sympathies to the families and friends of those affected
by this past weeks' tragedies.
05/04/01 -
Just to let you know this site is still alive and won't be dying anytime soon. In addition to some broken
links, the survey page has been repaired. Tracey appears to be in a period of inactivity at the moment. She
recently lost the American Comedy Award for "Small Time Crooks to Sandra Bullock for "Miss Congeniality"
and there is a rumour that Tracey will be appearing in a new film called "The Palace Thief".
The film has been cast with the likes of Alan Rickman, Kevin Kline and Mira Sorvino. It's about a teacher
looking back at his life, apparently a cross between "Dead Poets' Society" and "Goodbye Mr. Chips."
Saw the "Bridget Jones' Diary" flick the other night. As wonderful as Renee Zelwegger was, I couldn't help
think that Tracey could have filled the role well herself. I'll keep you posted with any news!
01/21/01 -
Tracey was nominated for a Golden Globe award for her performance in "Small Time Crooks" but lost to Renee Zelwegger for her performance in Nurse Betty. Tom O'Neil of E-Online, when
predicting the outcome of the Globes stated "It's sad, but
comedian Tracey Ullman doesn't get the respect she deserves as a great actress."
Tracey's other competition was Brenda Blethyn for Saving Grace, Juliet Binoche for
Chocolat and Sandra Bullock for Miss Congeniality. This year Tracey sat right up front in
the movie star section..stage right to be precise. We didn't get to see much of Tracey
during the show, though we nabbed an interesting shot of Tracey checking out Sela Ward's
outfit as Sela walked up the stairs to pick up her Globe. It sure looked like Tracey was
giving Sela the fashion critique! In other film news,
Tracey's independent film, "Panic" was reviewed by Roger Ebert this evening...He calls it one of the
best films of the year and adds that the Oscars should take notice! Sadly, my inside source tells me that Tracey's latest deal with
HBO has fallen through and that we won't be getting a new series next year. Tracey apparently
is taking the time to concentrate on her Purpleskirt and Purplepants websites. Bud Reeves a LA taxi driver emails me with this
comic tidbit, "I'm a taxi driver in LA. Last week I was dropping a fare on Rodeo Drive
as Tracey was walking by. I wanted so much to yell "Show me your tits!"
but I couldn't embarrass my customers...(they were from Japan and just
wouldn't understand.)" Don't you wish he had?
12/20/00 -
Sadly, Kirsty MacColl, who wrote "They Don't Know", was killed
Monday in a boating accident in Mexico. She wrote several other songs which
Tracey covered, including the title tracks to both of Tracey's albums ("You
Broke My Heart In 17 Places", "You Caught Me Out"). Tracey was the
subject of a question on a celebrity edition of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire".
Here was the question, asked of Sean Puffy Combs: For $64000:
10/22/00 -
Condolences to Tracey who is mourning her dog Eloise. The cavalier King Charles
spaniel was run over in Los Angeles earlier this month. Tracey is currently
working on a new website for men called Purplepants.
The site will launch on Oct.25th. The latest on her new show is that it will
air fall 2001. If the buzz pans out, Tracey may also be an Oscar winner by the time
her new show premieres. Do you realize I haven't changed the design of this page
since 1996?
06/12/00 -
Tracey was honoured at the 21st annual Banff TV festival this evening,
with the Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Network Award.
06/06/00 -
"Small Time Crooks"
finally arrived and Tracey was wonderful. Luckily it was a cold night so we were able
to stowaway our supermarket bought refreshments under our winter coats. When my superstitious
wife was told that the film would be playing in Cinema 13, she got kind of moody but the
rabid look in my eyes made her begrudgingly shuffle up the escalator with me. Reviews on the most part
have been very positive and even in the very few that weren't, Tracey and Elaine May's performances were praised. Could these two be neck and neck for
Oscar next March? 05/17/00 -
Robert Rivers, the host of Lifetime Live has informed me that his interview with
Tracey will air this Friday, May 19th (Noon E/T, P/T)on the Lifetime Channel. He
also revealed to me what I've been wondering for years. For
"Everyone Says I Love You", Tracey sang the old risqué Bessie Smith blues tune, "I Need A Little
Sugar In My Bowl" or is it "I Want A Hot Dog In My Roll" to Alan Alda.
What I would do to get a cut of that! Someday. CNN Showbiz Today had a story today about
"Small Time Crooks", featuring interviews with Tracey,
Woody and Hugh Grant. Missed it darn. Tracey appeared last Wednesday on the KCRW
(Santa Monica public radio) program "Morning Becomes Eclectic".
Hear the show at KCRW. Only 2 more days!! Anyhoo...
05/16/00 -
Just caught Tracey on a wonderful segment of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
Jon got invited to Tracey's premiere. GRRRR! Hey Tracey, I have a maroon tux too!
Anyhoo...
05/15/00 -
Tracey took on New York today stopping into see Matt Lauer on the Today Show, Regis
and Kathie Lee, Sam Donaldson and apparently Rosie O'Donnell too. Matt fixated on
Tracey's onscreen apparel in "Small Time Crooks" making
particular note of her lime green buttocks with the all too visible panty line. The only
think that would force me to watch that godawful Kathie Lee would be an appearance by Tracey
herself. Kathie Lee in an attempted comic moment (as grating as her attempted British accent)
even suggested that Tracey replace her when she leaves. What a bimbo.
Loved Tracey's comeback: "No one could replace you Kathie!" I should be careful.
Somebody might actually be reading this page.
I've just been enlightened to a new club in honor of Tracey called
the Totally Tracey Ullman Club.
They have a scheduled chat this May 20th at either 8PM or 9PM central. Should be a nice
place to drop by after heading back from our monsterplex viewing of
"Small Time Crooks." Tracey mentions the rumour
of being Paul McCartney's love child in the press. I remember including the same question in a fan letter
I sent to Tracey back in 1996. One of the fans who visited this site begged me to ask
and Tracey responded!
The countdown on the main page says only 3 days to
go! I can't wait. Got the babysitter booked and everything. The only thing I hate about going
to summer movies though is that you can't wear big coats which casually conceal the chips and pop
you picked up at the corner store at a third of the price they sell it for at the cinema's
concession counter. Anyhoo...
05/06/00 -
If you saw Tracey on Oprah the other day you will realize that Tracey really is quite
web reliant so much so that she orders her Christmas turkey online! The five minute
segment gave a nice plug for Purpleskirt.
Here are some more scheduled Tracey appearances: 05/06/00 -
OK my fellow Ullman obsessees, the promotion machine has started.
04/29/00 -
NEWS ALERT! Someone's seen "Small Time Crooks".
I received the following email today from Robert Rivers of "Lifetime Live":
"I saw the film last night here in New York
City. I'm taping an interview of Tracey Ullman Sunday that will air on Lifetime's
new weekday show "Lifetime Live."
She is absolutely brilliant in the comedy. How great to see her in the
starring role -- and the best starring role she's ever had on the big
screen." I've also heard from the TTO webmaster that Tracey has
struck a deal with HBO for a new show in 2001! With two great items like that, I'm
afraid I can't leave you with my usual Ruby anyhoo. Yahoo!...
04/26/00 -
Only 3 more weeks until the premiere of
Small Time Crooks.
I don't think I've anticipated
an Ullman film this much since "I Love You To Death".
03/20/00 -
Tracey played a supporting role in an independent film called "Panic" costarring William Macy and Neve Campbell. The film was received quite positively
this January at the Sundance Film Festival and is in the works for a distribution deal.
Tracey will be honoured at the Banff Television Festival this June with
the Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Network Award 2000. Previous winners include John Candy,
Bob Newhart and Martin Short. It's Springtime in the Rockies for Trace! Anyhoo...
02/04/00 -
Tracey's online shopping boutique, Purpleskirt
has been an amazing hit with online shoppers. The site received a whopping
1 million hits in it's first 24 hours and an overwhelming response with 4,000
subscribers to date. The Go Home page mailbox was flooded with emails from shoppers
desperately trying to find the site the day following Tracey's appearance on the Today Show. Congrats Tracey, Stephanie and Jeanine! Received
the most amusing email from one of Tracey's old school cohorts named
Dfer. I might need a translator. Here's what he wrote verbatim: "
Woof. Dfer went to school wiv Tracey. She got banned by London Underground, cos she was too
noisy and disturbed other peeps travalling on the train. They took her free tube pass away from her.
Dfer has a Yahoo club called Italia Conti Reunion. Dfer has lost contact wiv all the peeps who went to school.
Some now are mega famous like Leslie Ash and Naomi Campball, Louise etc.... and some just work now in Tesco's.
Dfer is putting out feelers to anyone so they can use this club for to find their own Conti school chums.
Can you help Mr. fan club guy? Woof. Dfer. (she really was nutty at school you know) It really is
quite delightful. Tracey has also been nominated for a Screen Actor's Guild award for Outstanding
Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for "Tracey Takes On...".
She's up against Calista Flockhart and Lucy Liu of "Ally McBeal" Lisa Kudrow of "
Friends" and Sarah Jessica Parker of
"Sex and the City." The awards will be handed out on March 13; TNT will
carry the ceremony in the US. Anyhoo...
01/20/00 -
Lordy Lordy Tracey's Forty! I wonder if one of her family members posted
her picture with a nifty little saying like that in the classified section of
the December 30th, LA Times. Woody Allen's Summer Project 1999 has now been renamed
"Small Time Crooks". Woody has been quoted as saying
"It's a silly film. It's ambition is to be nothing more than amusing.
It's a bank robber film with nothing profound to say." Apparently, the film has many scenes
set in Sotheby's and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Barbra Streisand recently announced that she was first
offered the part which Tracey plays but turned it down due to scheduling conflicts. I received a note from Tracey's wonderfully
funny costar of "Three Of A Kind", David Copperfield. David says,
"I remember Paul Jackson and the way he used to shout at us in camera rehearsals and the time we
spent at North Acton BBC and my favorite writer, Kim Fuller. The last time we were together was the
Silver Rose Awards in London". Tracey has been nominated for 2 American Comedy Awards:
FUNNIEST FEMALE PERFORMER IN A TELEVISION SERIES (LEADING ROLE) for "Tracey Takes On..."
and FUNNIEST FEMALE GUEST APPEARANCE IN A TELEVISION SERIES for "
Ally McBeal". Tracey won both of these awards last year. Time for a repeat! Anyhoo...
11/30/99 -
Roger Reini has updated me on some early Tracey stage work. Check out the updated
Stage section. Tracey is also scheduled
to appear on the History Channel program "Time Capsule" next Monday, December 6.
5th season production is not underway to the best of my knowledge. I don't know
how much longer I can wait. I NEED A RUBY FIX NOW!! Anyhoo...
11/24/99 -
Tracey Alert!! Rumour has it, she'll be making an appearance on the Today show, December 1st. Anyhoo...
11/12/99 -
Check out the new Tracey Ullman 'Go Home' Page Photo Gallery! Anyhoo...
10/23/99 -
Tracey unfortunately didn't win any more Emmys on September 12th and it's still unclear
as to whether a 5th season will soon be underway. It's been confirmed that Tracey completed
work on another film this past summer called "Panic" starring Neve Campbell,
William Macy and John Ritter. The film details the story of Alex, who tries to get out of
the Family Company but his father wont let him. While seeking the help of a therapist he
meets a sexually-charged-23-year-old Girl, who he falls in love with. No word yet as to what
part Tracey takes in this film. Earlier this week, Tracey announced that she would be opening
her own online fashion boutique for women called Purpleskirt.
Tracey will not only act as chairwoman of the project but write a monthly fashion column. Business
opens this November! Check out the new flash version of the
Tracey Takes On... website! Anyhoo...
08/30/99 -
Yippee! Tracey wins! This past weekend at the
51st Annual Prime Time Creative Arts Emmy Awards
, Tracey won an Emmy as Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her recurring role
on Ally McBeal as Tracy, the smile therapist. This is a major coup considering that her appearances weren't
even nominated last year. This brings Tracey's personal Emmy tally over her career to 7
tying Mary Tyler Moore and only trailing Dinah Shore by two. Tracey Takes On.... also picked up an award for Hairstyling for TTO Hair.
Can we count on Tracey winning two more Emmys on September 12th. Cross your fingers guys! We're on a roll! Anyhoo!!...
08/10/99 -
The Tracey Ullman 'Go Home' page has a new home! You can count on us staying
round here for a good chunk of the 21st century and expect a well needed rejuvenation
by Y2K.
"Tracey Takes On..." has received "8 Emmy Nominations"
plus one for Tracey's appearances on "Ally McBeal."
The nominees are:
04/21/99 -
Tracey's back on the big screen! Not only is she taking part in, but she is
starring in Woody Allen's Spring Project which starts shooting in (where
else but)
New York this summer. No details, as usual, regarding the storyline or
title. The film will also star Woody, Michael Rappaport, Hugh Grant and Jon
Lovitz.
This news will surely pacify the dissappointment in the excisement of
Tracey's part as Alan Alda's ex-wife in Woody's musical
"Everyone Says I Love You".
Apparently, Tracey has also just completed work on an independent film. More
to follow. This is exciting news! Also, Tracey was awarded with a GLAAD Media award
this past Saturday night for
best Individual Television episode: Tracey Takes On... Religion!
Way to go Trace! Anyhoo...
03/10/99 - Congratulations
to Tracey on her Screen Actors Guild award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series!
I don't even think Celine Dion has picked up as many trophies in the past few
years. Tracey appeared on Roseanne sometime in the last month but no one knew so
many of us missed it. Tracey's return appearance to Ally McBeal last month
proved to be the best yet! We were treated to an impromptu version of that 80's
classic, "Tainted Love" and a deeper look into her complex character,
"Tracy". Rumour has it that we may be in for one more appearance this
season. HBO is running an "End of the World"
contest, tying in with the season finale of TTO. The prizes are 5
autographed copies of the TTO paperback.
02/20/99 - Look for Tracey plus a surprise visit from lookalike Monica Hirschorn who was
detailed in the 'Go Home' page's 12/30/98 news item on this Monday's "Leeza".
Check your local NBC affiliate. Anyhoo... 02/11/99 -
Congratulations to Tracey for her 2 American
Comedy Awards wins this week! Tracey won inall categories in which she
was nominated which included awards for her work in both "Tracey Takes On..." and "Ally McBeal". Look for this to air on March 15th. And to top
that, Tracey will be returning to"Ally McBeal" on February 22nd as Tracy,
the smile shrink. Tracey was recently quoted in the BBC news saying that
she "plans to direct a film that will alter cinema's negative image of
older women. The way women are presented in films just drives me crazy.
There's a whole market out there of funny, older women that's untapped."
Could this possibly mean a Ruby Romaine feature? That would be just too
good to be true I suppose....but I can dream....Anyhoo.
01/28/99 - Congratulations
to Tracey for her Screen Actors Guild nomination for best actress in a
TV comedy series. Her competition: Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal), Lisa
Kudrow (Friends), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Seinfeld) and Amy Pietz (Caroline
in the City). The awards are to be televised on TNT (US cable) March 7.
Tracey has also been nominated for 2 comedy awards.Funniest Female in a
TV Series (Lead Role) (for TTO) and Funniest Guest Appearance by a Female
(for Ally McBeal). Her competition for the series award: Ellen DeGeneres
(Ellen), Jenna Elfman (Dharma & Greg), Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal),
Helen Hunt (Mad About You). Her competition for the guest award: Carol
Burnett (Mad About You), Ellen DeGeneres (Larry Sanders), Lisa Kudrow (Mad
About You), Bebe Neuwirth (Frasier). The award ceremony will be on Feb.
7 and broadcast Mar. 15. Anyhoo...
01/13/99- "Tracey
Takes On..." Season 4 premiered last night! Check out the review
by Roger Reini of Totally
Tracey Online. Anyhoo...
01/12/99 - Tracey's
currently on the chat circuit which today included appearances on the Today
Show and Rosie O'Donnell. Tomorrow catch Tracey on Comedy Central's Daily
Show. A repeat of her appearance on "Animal Tails" with her dog Eloise
will air on the Animal Planet cable network on January 21st. Roger Reini
tells me that "it's a cute 5-minute segment featuring her dog Eloise. Supposedly,
Eloise bears a resemblance to Kate Moss. The highlight is a set of impressions
she does, courtesy of a napkin and some help from "mommy."" Tracey's appearance
on the Tonight Show was a "one on one" with Jay. Apparently John Travolta
left at the end of his segment (probably to remind us that he's a big star).
Being the preoccupied dad that I am forced me to miss this one. Roger tells
me that Tracey discussed "the ski trip to Utah, toupee-spotting and bad
hair transplant spotting, how to get away with a lot by using Cockney rhyming
slang and how she could have improved the sales of the book (put a swastika,
the Titanic and Princess Diana on the cover). Tracey's third appearance
on Rosie O'Donnell was again a real treat. We learned that Tracey does
her Christmas shopping on the internet because malls give her Chronic Fatigue
Syndrome. For a birthday present, Rosie enthusiastically gave Tracey one
of those vacuum sealed storage kits. To cap the segment, Tracey partook
in a celebrity guessing game which won vacuum sealed storage kits for the
entire audience! Almost makes me think Rosie could convince Tracey to move
to the valley. A new TTO video will be out later this month in addition
to a paperback version of Tracey's book, "Tracey Takes On..." . 4th season
premiere tomorrow! Anyhoo...
finally broadcasts tomorrow night on ABC's Wonderful World Of Disney. Reviews are overwhelmingly positive and Newsday says, "Ullman, with her gift for farce is perfect for all the physical comedy required of the role of the ditzy princess "Fred." I'm really hoping that tomorrow we'll see Tracey exercise all of her gifts in one role. Anyhoo...
Tracey was too busy during the filming of Once Upon A Mattress to attend the "A Dirty Shame" premiere at the Toronto Film Festival last year. I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer to meet our girl! Incidentally, Once Upon A Mattress has been moved to November sweeps. Sounds like it will be a real holiday affair! Anyhoo...
Publicity for the fall release of "A Dirty Shame" is picking up steam. The film has been given a NC-17 rating. Whoa Trace!
On her Fox TV series, what did Tracey Ullman say at the end of each episode?
A) Drive safely! B) Stay Sweet C) Go home! D) You're the best!
Puffy had to go to the audience for this one; they responded 3-4-77-16 (they
knew their stuff on that question). And he got it right. Tracey recently appeared
at the London Film Festival
to celebrate "Small Time Crooks" Happy Holidays and Happy Birthday Trace!
Tracey mentioned
that she's refused to do "Saturday Night Live" because
"It's still a guy's world. It's predominantly male. I've never done the
show because they treat the girls like doo-doo." Citing
"The Tracey Ullman Show" as a failure, the interviewer prompted Tracey
to say "I do get a small piece of The Simpsons. . .more than I'll ever make out of Tracey Ullman residuals."
Strange that someone would refer to "The Tracey Ullman Show" as a failure. Afterall, in 4 years it garnered
countless Emmys and made Tracey an international star. There must be others out there like me who consider it their
favorite TV show of all time. It was popular around my group. I get sentimental when I
think back to the Monday mornings we'd hang out at the UBC Film Society and watch a tape
of the previous night's episode and critique. Ahhh, seems like yesterday...
In interview, Tracey makes much of her lime green leggings but in the latter part of the
film she really looks quite lovely. And most importantly thanks to the film, I've finally convinced my wife
to remove the black shelacked tiger from our china cabinet! "Small Time Crooks" is arguably Tracey's
best screen role and performance to date. Congratulations Tracey. Roger Reini informs me that while
reading one of the stories about the death of Sir John Gielgud he saw a reference to
the legendary British theater impresario Hugh "Binkie" Beaumont (1908-1973).
If you remember back to the early days when Tracey hauled out her dogs on the FOX show
and Letterman, one of her dogs had that very name. Can anyone recall her other dog with
the equally eccentric name? Sounds like a good question for that Regis show. Apologies to those
who tuned into Lifetime Live on Friday the 19th. The show was pushed up to Thursday the 18th and
I was unable to inform you in time....a great interview by a true fan. Thanks Robert!
Tracey paid a return visit to the public radio series FRESH AIR on May 22nd. You can
listen to the show and past interviews online:
Tracey on FRESH AIR.
Now here's an unexpected treat:
Apparently Tracey made a video of the song "Sunglasses", the single from her second album,
"You Caught Me Out" back in 1984. News to me. You can soon read a review of it
at Totally Tracey Online. Tracey
will be starting to develop a new show for HBO this August for viewing possibly in 2001. What
we do know is that Tracey will be directing the shows herself,
there will be little or no makeup, fewer characters and likely no Ruby(GRRR..).
My latest source tells me that Tracey may be formulating a show in the same vein as
the 50's Honeymooners where she'll play both the Gleason and Meadows role. The speculation
on Tracey's 2001 comic odyssey begins... (In protest against the demise of Ruby Romaine, I will
no longer be closing my rants with an "Anyhoo...". I sure hope I don't have to join
another support group like I did when Francesca left us.)
Have any of you caught the alternate TV trailer ad for "Small Time Crooks". Not
one mention of Tracey! What's up with that? Anyhoo...
I haven't felt
this much momentum since "the book tour".
Set your VCRs: Tracey's on OPRAH
this Tuesday, May 9th discussing Purpleskirt. The reviews for "Small Time Crooks" are churnin in
and lookin good especially for Tracey's performance.
There's a contest on Purpleskirt to win
a makeover, a dinner out and tickets to the premiere of
"Small Time Crooks."
Jeez I'd be willing to wear a gown and a funky hairdo if it could snag some premiere tickets
for me and the wife...but I suppose we'll have to settle for schlepping down to the
monsterplex May 19th. It seems that "Tracey Takes On..." may continue afterall
according to Tracey's interview in
TV Guide. Tracey mentions that she wants to direct the next season. I've also heard from
an inside source that Tracey intended to direct a film this summer in Chicago but that plans
may not go ahead as intended. Let's enjoy the Tracey marathon in the coming weeks. The OSCAR buzz has started already! Tracey's chances have reached a peak 2nd place.
(interestingly enough for Supporting Actress: this should likely double
her chances of a nom and a subsequent win in my opinion). Keep track
of Tracey's Oscar buzz on ZEUSEFER'S 2000 OSCAR PREDICTION CHARTS. Can Tracey kick Kate Winslet out
of 1st place for this week's Oscar buzz? Anyhoo...
Dreamworks is distributing the film so we can expect a wider release than previous Allen films.
Tracey recently appeared at two benefits, one for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund benefit,
where as Mistress Of Ceremonies, she wore the Ashford Diamond and last week at a Beverly Hills
fundraiser for the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS). Tracey apparently performed with
"Life Goes On" star, Chris Burke and brought the house down. "Tracey Takes On...
" recently won a DGA award for best television musical variety for Dennie Gordon's direction
of the "End of the World" episode. Tracey will be profiled in a new series called "Influences"
on the Bravo channel to air August 6th.
I've heard from a source who has been in touch with HBO that "Tracey Takes On..." will
not be back. There is still the possibility of a new series though in the future. I think we
can all agree that if Tracey's gonna come back to TV, HBO is the best place for her to exercise
her creativity. Aww Ruby, I miss you gal. Anyhoo...
Technical Awards will be handed out on August 28th and the rest on September 12th.
Rumours abound about the fate of the 5th season of "Tracey Takes On..."
Sources tell
me Tracey may be returning to a format much like the "The Tracey Ullman Show" with a
3 camera setup, live studio audience and lotsa singin and dancin! Seeing as Tracey is currently
appearing in milk ads donning her trademark housecoat from the FOX show, there may be some truth to this
rumour. Tracey's
been spotted on the streets of New York with Hugh Grant filming scenes from the latest
Woody Allen project. Her character described as a nouveau-riche Brooklynite sounds much
like Fern Rosenthal but looks a helluva lot like Chris Warner! Roger Reini recently received an email from Nick Rutherford who played
Max, the son of the Yuppie parents on "The Tracey Ullman Show". He is now 16 years old and
says, "Tracey was so incredibly talented and I loved working with her." The segment where
Max auditions for a gifted school with his rendition of Itsy Bitsy Spider is a favorite
in our home. Anyhoo...
How bout our new Tracey lookalike, Robin Orloff. Robin tells me that like both
Monica Hirschorn and Tracey, she has some Eastern European ancestry. Maybe these girls are
distant cousins way way back? Scott Covitz informs me that he's working
on this really fabulous animated series concept that he knows that Tracey Ullman
would die to executive produce! Apparently, it's a sci-fi animated
comamma(comedy/drama) about anthropomorphic cats who deal with the problems of
their own world (but still have time to listen to Tracey Ullman's
music)! Anyhoo...
