REVIEW OF "TRACEY TAKES ON...": CRIME Mar. 19, 1997
by Roger Reini (rreini@wwnet.com)
This week, "Tracey Takes On..." took on crime - and the police took on Tracey... guess that office pool wasn’t a very good idea ...
What would you do if you picked up a piece of luggage by mistake, only to learn that it contained several thousand dollars, perhaps millions of dollars? We learned what Timmy Bugge would do with it - and what he and Virginia could do with it.
Who would ever think that sweet, meek little Kay could be suspected of such a thing as bank robbery? And who would ever think that she’d fall for the private eye (John Spencer, "LA Law") who’s been following her?
And who would have thought that the stalker who pursued Linda Granger last year would have been cured of his obsession – only to pick up another one? What must Linda have felt when she learned she was replaced by – Tori Spelling?!?
In this week’s short bits, we learn about crime & punishment in Mrs. Noh’s homeland; we learn how Fern views crimes and their effects on the Jews; we learn about the time Ruby was hauled in for questioning as part of a drug bust; we learn that Birdie has been counseling inmates on Death Row; Hope tells us about a friend who found a dead body rolled up in a rug (or maybe not); and HRH meets OJ Simpson. She didn’t care for the ending of the series he was starring in last year. Lots of people didn’t care for it, either ... then again, a lot of people thought it was wonderful.
The best sketch of the episode, in my opinion, was Kay and the private eye. It was wonderful to see her have a relationship with a man. She’s long overdue and very deserving. But did it last? You’ll have to watch for yourself (or read my detailed guide and commentary).
I give this episode 3 1/2 stars.
NEXT WEEK: Movies!
