racey
was approached by Rosemary Robinson, wife of Stiff's Dave Robinson in 1982
to record an album. Not believing that she had any singing talent whatsoever
(that's our modest Trace), she decided to go for the novelty, camp approach.
The result was "YOU BROKE MY HEART IN
17 PLACES".
racey
became England's uncrowned pop queen with 6 singles in the British Top
100 within 19 months between March 1983 and October 1984. Three of these
hits, They Don't Know, Breakaway and Move Over Darling hit the Top 10.
"They Don't Know" (28.8.ra)
is the theme song for the 2nd and subsequent seasons of "Tracey Takes
On". As Tracey says, "It's a real blast from the past".
n
late 1984, Tracey recorded a second album of songs reminiscent of her debut
album entitled "YOU
CAUGHT ME OUT".
Songs included Little By Little, Sunglasses, Where The Boys Are, Helpless
and the title song. Unfortunately, this album did not score the same attention
as her first. Tracey made one more album, FOREVER
in 1985 before devoting her career to acting. It's a shame she didn't continue
to record and I can only hope Tracey will sing more on "Tracey Takes
On".
